Horner

James Horner is the son of Viennese stage designer and Oscar winner Harald Horner.

His career as composer, orchestrator and conductor spans over three decades and more than 100 film scores, many of which were Hollywood blockbusters: Aliens, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Glory, The Mask of Zorro, The Legend of Zorro, Enemy at the Gates, The Missing, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, A Beautiful Mind, The Perfect Storm, Avatar and Titanic.

During the last years he composed the scores for The Karate Kid and The Amazing Spider-Man. Currently, Horner is composing the music for the new adaption of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and for the science fiction thriller Ender’s Game starring, Ben Kingsley and Harrison Ford.

Since 1980s Horner is recognized for the integration of synthesizers and frequent use of Celtic instruments.

He is a two-time Academy Award-winner, with a total of seven Oscar nominations. Furthermore he received two Golden Globes (8 nominations) and three Grammys (8 nominations).
