Vienna has music in its DNA and enjoys a thoroughly deserved reputation as the world capital of music. Classical composers have left an indelible mark on the city, just as contemporary and pioneering film music projects are increasingly making their mark in the capital once again. In the past ten years, Hollywood in Vienna has been a gilt-edged networking opportunity for the international film music industry and has put the city in the global spotlight: hundreds of thousands of music fans turn their attention to the Austrian capital and follow the Hollywood in Vienna gala concert on television.

Vienna’s growing status as a meeting place for the international music scene is down to various factors, including the city’s excellent services and facilities: the Vienna Symphonic Library’s Synchron Stage Vienna in the former Rosenhügel television studios is one of the world’s most innovative studios for recording film music. Vienna Music Angels is the city’s first preparation service for movie score recordings, while the Max Steiner Film Music Orchestra (founded in 2012) has built a strong reputation for creating high-quality recordings for film and media projects.

And now you too can draw inspiration from the Rhythm of Vienna – the capital’s theme for 2017 – and discover the city and all of its classical and contemporary music attractions at first hand. Reaching the world’s music capital is easier than ever before thanks to the recent introduction of a direct flight between Vienna and movie central, Los Angeles. On behalf of everyone at the Vienna Tourist Board, I would like to welcome to our city music creators, their fans and anyone else looking to enjoy excellent music.
