Forrest Gump Suite

A feather glides over the roofs of a small town in the US and gently lands in front of the feet of the main character. Forrest Gump picks up the feather with the same affection that the camera hinted at as it followed its journey. The audience now knows everything about the protagonist of the best movie in 1991.

Silvestri’s wonderfully musical »Feather Theme« has earned its place in cinematic iconography alongside the aforementioned film scene. The theme – in all its sobriety and reduced instrumentation – provides a preview of the main character’s simplicity.

But Forrest also has to overcome some obstacles on his way through the motion picture. He meets three US presidents, finds his true love, loses her again and finally makes peace with himself and the world.

Silvestri’s score therefore covers a wide range of themes – from the innocent love motif to the larger than life victory theme. The suite performed today highlights what »Forrest Gump« is about: a deep inner peace from where he draws strength and that we can only envy him of.
