Alan Silvestri Medley

The medley opens by taking us to the ground of the ocean with the score for James Cameron’s »The Abyss«. Silvestri elegantly (and almost wavy) captures the mysterious vastness of the ocean with a choir. This is followed by the touching music from »Father of the Bride«, a comedy about a father trying to let go of his marrying daughter. Musically speaking, Silvestri moves between the lightness and harmlessness of jazz and the joyous gravity of classic church and wedding music. The score for the next movie, »Contact«, is completely different: a Science Fiction movie in which a journey to faraway worlds turns into a journey to your inner self. Fittingly the music’s core is a simple piano motif that swells up into a fully fledged orchestra theme. The slapstick comedy style dominates the »Mouse Hunt« score – full of swift movement and with an enchantingly cheeky main theme. The morbid comedy „Death Becomes Her« combines action, horror, slapstick and a little bit of relationship drama in a truly surprising manner. The music then shifts to »a pinch of Dracula« in the vampire hunting movie »Van Helsing«. This is followed by tons of action during a »Night at the Museum«. While the museum comes to life around Ben Stiller, the score follows suit and turns a normal night shift into a real adventure. The suite ends on a Christmassy note with Silvestri’s music for the adventures in »The Polar Express«. Enjoy an exciting musical journey through varying film topics, which are all connected by the characteristic touch of Silvestri’s musical genius.
