For the first time, Vienna is host to an International Film Music Symposium with an all-star cast, which aims for an exchange of ideas between film- and music professionals from Austria and abroad. The symposium takes place at Vienna's "University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna" and is chaired by Deputy Chancellor Dr. Claudia Walkensteiner-Preschl and renowned composer Bruce Broughton. |
Its aim is to develop concepts for a more effective collaboration between composers, directors, film production companies, orchestras and recording studios in Austria. Experts approach the subject of film music from musical and film angles by means of musical examples, film clips, round-table discussions and hands-on workshops. |
The list of prominent guests include Academy-Award winning composer John Barry, Emmy Award-winning composer Bruce Broughton. David Arnold – today’s James Bond soundtrack composer – his orchestrator and conductor Nicholas Dodd as Harald Kloser, currently Austria’s most successful Hollywood composer.
