1 About King Kong2 From Wagner to Steiner3 Position of Composers Then and Now(1:18min)It´s hard to believe, how many diverse things John Mauceri has done throughout his career. At the beginning a protégée of Leonard Bernstein (he also conducted the European premieres of \"Mass\" in Vienna and \"A Quiet Place\" at the la Scala), consequently a sought-after concert and opera conductor at the most eminent houses, director of four opera houses in Europe and the USA, film music specialist and founding director of the L.A. philharmonic´s \"Hollywood Bowl Orchestra\", and now chancellor of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. This is, where we met the versatile Maestro. The University resembles more a mini-construction of the Warner Brothers Studios than a school - with it´s own film city, concert halls, huge studios and all kinds of study branches you can think of. Here, students work together interdisciplinarily from the very beginning - we are fascinated and wish to have such an institution in Europe, as well.John Mauceri welcomes us in his apartment and talks about the musical connection between Vienna and Hollywood. |
